EV Battery Fire Shield Displayed at Several Global Trade Shows

The introduction of EVs is key to the decarbonization of the mobility sector. However, the lithium ion batteries used in EVs are prone to thermal runaway, which can lead to the risk of explosion. The spread of fire can in turn put drivers and passengers in danger, and so EV battery fire shields are essential.
The MAFTEC needle blanket has a melting point of 1,850℃ and boasts excellent tensile strength even at high temperatures. By combining this with inorganic fiber woven cloth, we were able to create a lightweight material with outstanding fireproof properties, fire resistance, and particle impact resistance. EV battery prototypes using MAFTEC as fireproof material have been on display at the trade shows below.
