Combining durability and cushioning performance in high-temperature environments
Polycrystalline alumina fiber MAFTECTM
The Polycrystalline Alumina Fiber MAFTEC™, made with a proprietary needle-punching process and composed of mullite, offers high heat resistance, thermal insulation, and cushioning properties, demonstrating excellent dimensional stability even in high-temperature environments up to 1,600°C. Due to its advanced fiber-diameter control technology, it contains virtually no respirable dust (WHO fibers), which is also one of its safety features. These functions and characteristics are leveraged in a wide range of applications, including thermal insulation products and subtrate support mats for automotive exhaust catalytic converters.

MAFTECTM Product Characteristics
The polycrystalline alumina fiber MAFTECTM has the following characteristics:
Advantage01High heat resistance
Retains flexibility and cushioning properties even at 1300°C, and demonstrates excellent strength and dimensional stability even in environments up to 1600°C
MAFTECTM, a polycrystalline alumina fiber produced using a proprietary manufacturing process, offers excellent heat resistance, not only delivering stable performance under ultra-high temperatures of 1600°C, but also retaining flexibility and cushioning properties at temperatures up to 1300°C. Leveraging these characteristics, it is used in harsh environments such as thermal insulation in steel mills and automotive exhaust catalytic converters. In particular, in catalytic converters, it has long been highly regarded worldwide as a gripping material that reliably protects the delicate ceramic substrate from vibrations and shock generated during driving.

Advantage02High thermal insulation
Using our proprietary needle-punching technology, the fibers are strongly bound, achieving a lightweight material with excellent thermal insulation performance.
MAFTECTM Blanket achieves uniform thickness through needle processing applied from both sides. It gives enough space between fibers and achieves an excellent insulation effect. It also offers high wind-erosion resistance that withstands intense airflow, and because it is lower in density and lighter than refractory bricks, it contributes to reducing equipment weight and improving energy efficiency.
Advantage03High safety
With an average fiber diameter of 5-7 μm, we provide a highly precise and safe product that contains virtually no WHO fibers
Through our proprietary fiber-diameter control technology, we keep the average fiber diameter at 5-7 μm. It can be handled safely, because it virtually contains no WHO fibers (fibers under 3 μm) that are considered capable of reaching the alveoli through breathing and potentially causing adverse health effect.
